I sold a condo to some NorCal folks for their UCSD student daughter to use as a dorm and for their family to enjoy as a summer home Summer 2016. This is a very common client type for me.

Parents of UCSD, USD & SDSU students buy a lot of property here!


I get a call today, "Thomas, it's Scott." (panicked voice)

"Scott what's wrong?"

"We shut off the electrical to do some work on the place with Norm, the contractor you referred us..."

(discount and transactional brokers/agents are not around to refer you tradesmen, they don't even have those relationships to call upon)

"...and when he turned the power back on, it set off the house alarm

and we lost the piece of paper with the code on it! What do we do?"


"Scott, look at your text in 10 seconds.

I'm sending you the photo I took of that piece of paper and it has your code on it. "


"Oh my God you are my hero!" Hang on!"


I wait about 60 seconds...


"That worked!!! It's off. I can't believe you thought to take a picture of that and I didn't?


"That's what you have me for Scott, I'm your Realtor for life...glad I could help!"


"That's awesome Thomas, thank you so much!"

"My pleasure, have a great day!"

"You too, bye!"

Thomas love these kind of stories! You saved the day and  then some!  Probably the funniest one I've had is a couple that leaned on me for a number of weeks after the close with question after question. One day they called (and I was thinking - wonder what they need today cause it was usually something off the wall and not real estate related)! Turns out they didn't know how to fix a water bed issue. Then they started laughing at how silly they were acting (their words) and decided it was time to figure stuff out on their own from now on.  But they had to call me first and let me know that fact! These folks have been clients of mine for almost 28 years and bought and sold many homes.  You are SPOT on with this post - clients can rely on us year after year - long after the sale has closed.
