This past weekend some of The April Stephens Team members stopped by the Downtown Raleigh Home Show to check out the latest in home and garden trends! These are some of the trends that we are seeing for 2017:

Greenery

Greenery is the Pantone color of the year and we’re starting to see this shade and other shades of green popping up all around! In lieu of bold walls, we’re seeing this as a great accent color that adds a nice pop to rooms with a lot of neutral or muted tones. Not sure how to use this color? Design Milk has some great ideas here.

Handcrafted Furniture

There has always been an appreciation for the handmade, but this year we are seeing a lot of custom furniture. We’ve seen a rise in new construction, so it is no surprise that homeowners are also looking towards custom pieces to personalize their space. We’ve seen a lot of great farm tables and custom chairs and loved this custom table that we spotted at the Raleigh home show.

Satin Brass and Gold Accents

Gone are the days of silver, as many homeowners are looking to add unique accents like satin brass or gold tones. It is a great way to add contrast in kitchens or bathrooms without a shiny, reflective finish and pairs well with almost every color.

Marble and Faux Countertops

We’re seeing a move towards marble countertops and the clean look that they bring to a space. But for homeowners not looking to have a costly upgrade, we are also seeing some great “faux” countertop options. These options look much like the real deal, but are made from material that runs a little less than higher end options.

Adding to White

We’re seeing the classic white being mixed with off-whites and beiges, along with grays like Poised Taupe from Sherman Williams. We love this trend because the all white concept gets some warmth and dimension from these other colors.
