I enjoy hiking past this home most Sundays and boy
does it have Location... Location! Location?
72 Blue Heron Way
This charming blue cottage with beautiful yard and brick pathway has amazing views of UTC/La Jolla.
You won't be able to find it on a map, GPS or Google Maps, but you may find it on a UCSD Campus Map!
You see, this little cottage enjoys such spectacular views because it's (appropriately) perched 7 stories high on the roof of the UCSD Engineering Building!
The story goes, that the artist, Do Ho Suh, an emigrant from Seoul, Korea crerated this piece out of his own sense of displacement from his home in South Korea, after immigrating over to the United States.
This is one of 18 commissioned and permanent sculptures than can be seen on the UCSD campus
and is know as the "Fallen Star" with a fictional address of 72 Blue Heron Way.
The Fallen Star is open to the public for guided tours on Tuesdays & Thursdays 11AM-2PM.
Call 858-534-2117 or visit the collection’s website.
Sundays UCSD offers Walking Tours and Bus Tours to non-student, non-family members of the public.
