Are You Anticipating Spring?

Flower Bouquet

The anticipation of spring is always a fascination with me. As a homegrown Midwestern girl, I was fascinated by the weather and the storms that lit up the sky at night. I could be perched on my front porch protected by a red and white canopy chasing storms across the sky with my eyes shifting from left to right, up and down. Raindrops falling on the metal canopy sounded like a symphony until a thunderclap caused me to practically jump out of my skin!

Childs play is hard work. You're always thinking, imagining, creating thoughts inside your head and feeling the power of nature's intensity of storms, the wind blowing across your face, or the sun beating down giving you warmth. I have always had that connection to weather and nature's gardens and how it fits into my life. As the flowers grow, so do I. Perhaps that's why I enjoy taking photographs of flowers to share my excitement about beauty and the anticipation of spring and warmer weather. Although Texas weather doesn't compete with northern climate it still brings its fair share of rain but most of all a lot more sun. I understand what it's like to live out long seasons without the sun or warm weather and harsh winters, that's why I'm empathetic to my northern relatives and friends. Living in Texas changes things and I get to play in the dirt more planting flowers and pulling out never ending weeds. Life is Good!!!

It feels like spring here -- blossoms scent the soft air. I'm heading down to my garden plot and the farmer's market in a bit, and will enjoy the sunshine.

Patricia

What a beautiful flower arrangement teaser for spring. Our shift from winter to spring here is so much more subtle than many places - certainly different from where I spent most of my life in the Northeast - and that's just fine with me. I enjoy the year-round greenery and flowers. We are expecting more rain today!

It's not the prettiest of the seasons here in New England, but YES I am looking forward to it with great anticipation. Just to have the windows open and fresh air flowing again will be wonderful!

Hi Patricia Feager - Gorgeous Spring photo. I love the variety of color. I echo your sentiments. I often hear about the unforgiving winters of my relatives in Nebraska. and of course Chicago lake front storms can be torturous.  Being from a sunbelt state, Spring starts eary for us.  Bulbs have already sprouted. I love it!

Patricia I am so looking forward to warmer weather. We've had a lot of rain and cold days here (which is nice too) but I'm so ready for the plants to start blooming and the temps being back in the 70's or 80's. Gorgeous photo - very lovely! Happy Sunday!

While I LOVE winter, I enjoy every change of season...it has been unseasonably warm and seeing the daffodils blooming and the camelias start to bud has had me rethinking my wish for snow.  I would not be unhappy with spring right now, as long as it doesn't get above 70 degrees and the nights are cool.  LOL

I long for spring as soon as fall arrives. It's my very favorite time of the year with the exception of pollen. I had the first blooms on my azaleas last week.  It's almost spring.

Living in N. Texas as we do, spring has it's challenges.  Pollen and alergies are always fun.  And then there's the multiple-personality disorders: Storms and hail and tornados.  Being in FM, I hope you dind't get pounded by the hail a few days ago.  Wear a helmet while you're gardening, just in case.  :)
