Just finished a 3 day event with the Speakers Retreat at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa. It was amazing to meet so many professional public speakers and was able to join them as one of the speakers too. I never really looked at myself as a public speaker but I guess you can't really avoid it when you have a message to share.
I learned a lot from this event and the information I gathered from so many people was incredible. I had the opportunity to speak in front of this group and talked about "Personal Branding in Real Estate". It was a little bit intimidating but I told myself that nobody's perfect and there is no reason to feel nervous about it. I know in my heart that in God's eyes, I am already perfect and that speaking in front of these people should not be an issue at all.
Mentioning Jesus Christ as someone who has the perfect personal branding was somewhat of a stretch but it also made me realized that there was a reason for me to be there. Not looking at myself as a professional speaker and not knowing some of the basic rules did not matter anymore. After I finished my speaking, I went back to my seat with my heart smiling. This was a great experience. I made people laugh with one line that I said; it was not even intended to be funny but it turned out to be..and it was awesome. Now I know why people like to speak on the stage because of the happiness they get from it. The best thing of all, I know that God was either smiling or saying "Good Job Marie!"
