A week or so ago, I share with you the first 5 Blogging Bloopers and had said I would post 6-10 the next day. Well life has it's way of making it's way into business! LOL. Anyway here is what I promised and a link back to that original 1-5 that I wrote about.
6 - 10 Blogging Bloopers by Beginners.
- You think that once you've writte your post, you're done. Oh So Not True!!! The next step should be a 20 minute editing review. Typos, misspelled words, run-on sentences, punctuation...They may not see like much to you, but if you have a client who is looking for a professional, they are expecting your work to be professional as well and that includes reviewing your work once, twice. Maybe have a co-worker or friend review it as well. There is no such thing as too many eyes!
You spend too much time trying to "perfect" your post. There is no such thing as a perfect post. Even here in this post, 10 Worst Beginner Blogger Bloopers, I could go for 12, 15 or 500 mistakes, but I'm sticking to a readable number of what I consider to be important.
Lack of Consistency in Blogging. I think this is one of the biggest problems that most every business faces. Social media marketing and blogging take time. If you can't blog consistently, don't blog at all. At least your readers will know they are not wasting their time!
**This is why REALTORS® hire people like myself and my team of real estate writing experts to maintain their social marketing. It costs you more money to do it yourself than to pay someone else to do it for you! Right?
Lack of Reciprocal Commenting. Writing and posting a blog is not just for the fun of it (although I have read and bookmarked many funny blogs). The writing you do is to create and build relationships to help increase the number of leads you have. So if all you do is post, then how are you going to start building relationships? You have to be commenting on other posts on the social platforms and blogs. Heck, check the local newspapers and media. I bet you can find lots of places to comment other than socially. But be consistent and considerate.
- Not following up with analytics. How in the world do you know if anyone is ready your blogs or sharing your facebook posts if you don't check your analytics. There are lots of programs (many are free) to help you analyze your content. What are people reading, sharing, etc. If you don't know this, how can you provide content that people want to read and how do you post that content where it gets the best traffic?
As I said in #8, there is a lot to Social Media Marketing (SMM) and Blogging. It really is worth the price to pay someone to do it for you, do it right and do it effectively.
