Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams

OH FOR CRYIN OUT LOUD IN A BUCKET!!! PEOPLE!  QUIT BORROWIN' A JACK!!!

I gotta tell ya...I'm so sick of the media shouting the words RECESSION! FALLING HOME SALES! FORECLOSURES! Holy Mackerel, folks!  Doesn't anyone ANYWHERE realize that the real estate market is a LOCAL BUSINESS?!!

I'm a sick as the next agent who hears, "So, are things pickin' up for ya this Spring?"  AAARRGGHHH!

PEOPLE!  I WORKED!  THINGS NEVER SLOWED DOWN for ME!!!

I offer MORE than most agents.  I help the homeowner! No, really help!  I've been known to paint, landscape, cut grass, etc.....when you sell your home, I HELP YOU!

I work with a grass roots ethic and attitude.  Great service. Surprising service. Absolute availability and total honesty. Sure, you say.  Sounds trite and corny. My point in case....you should try it! It really works when you DO what you SAY you're going to DO!

AND FURTHERMORE for agents who are whining about not having work.....some small advice my exceptional salesman father gave me years ago.....if you're a salesman and  get up in the morning, and you don't know what you're going to do that day, you're out of a job.  Such good advice....

Back to basics, people.  This isn't a Real Estate business....it's a lead generating business, so get off your hiney and go generate some leads......!

This is the best business in the world to be in!

Anne,

I do not know. I guess I am getting tired of "Real Estate Market Is local" adage. Are real estate licensees the only species that try to fool themselves?

Anne - Hallelujah, I couldn't have said it better myself.  Like you, I have never slowed down.  In fact, a few weeks ago I worked 93 hours in seven days.  The business is here if you are ready for it.  I am saving your post.  It is worded so perfectly!

I'll tell ya, that's one helluva first blog.  The economy is struggling in a lot of places, but I know a lot of agents making great money in those down markets.

Jon, Real estate is definitely local.  My last three listings have had multiple offers on them and sold within 5 days on the market.  Seven of the last ten listings I have put offers on have had multiple offers.  You would never know it based on the nationwide media.  I think that the local agents who are suffering are convincing themselves that the media is right.

Anne, I am on par for my goals as far as transactions go.  I turned my TV off a long time ago.  I don't listen to it, that way it doesn't get between my ears.  When agents whine in my office about the market, I just leave and get back to work, not going to listen to the negativity.  I live in my own reality.

Well, you do more than I'm willing to do. You won't find me cutting grass. But I will give them the info on 3 people who will! It's all about prospecting and work. I've shifted gears. I was getting so many calls for rentals that I started listing rentals too. I'm just going with the flow. And real estate is absolutely local!

Audrey,

Good job on turning the TV off...REMEMBER~  Trash in...trash out.   There's a whole lotta truth to that....

I have a 7year old who get the stoplight type grading in first grade daily....green light, he's been good.  Yellow, he's had a warning.  Red, well...you got it, right?  I always know when he's had a "green light" day, because he get's off the bus and sings all the way up the hill to the house.  Then he throws the front door open and says...MOM!  GUESS what I got TODAY!!!   When he gets a yellow or, gosh forbid, a red light, he sneaks in the back door.  In his defense, he get's mostly green lights.  My point is that at the end of the day, if you got a green light....wouldn't you want to sing your way home?  Then, people hear you singing and know you're successful and secure, and are attracted to that success and security....it's the pebble in the pond effect.  It's the secret to success, G.F.~!

Lisa,

That's probably true, and you're smart to give them names instead.  And GOOD for YOU for going with the flow!  I'd rather cut grass than list rentals, though, I gotta tell you.  Going with what works is essential....as much in your business as in anything else..!  It's great when you realize that and can be flexible...you don't want to put all your eggs in one basket for sure.  The fox looks at the whole henhouse....not just one egg.

Anne, great post, I agree that we need to start by turning off the media.  Maybe once they find out (if they ever will) that no one is watching, they will shut up!  We are what we do!  Thanks again.
