Give Your Guests the Spa Treatment!

One of the perks of living in South Florida means you’ll have as much company as you can handle.  Even though many family members and other how to turn your guest room into a retreatguests visit us at Spring Break and during the summer, we’re never at a loss for house guests throughout the year.

So, why not give them the all-star treatment?!

Here are 12 tips for making sure your houseguests feel at home.

1.Be a guest in your own guest bedroom.

This is where I would begin.  Spend the night and use the guest bathroom.

You’ll learn if the bed is comfortable; if the room is cool (or warm) enough; if more light is needed.

2.Make sure there is adequate lighting.

Don’t rely on the overhead light alone.  Add lamps on your nightstands and on a table or dresser.

I place a battery operated candle that has its own timer in the guest bath so that guests can find their way in the middle of the night.

3.Check to make sure there are extra kleenex, toilet paper, and towels so that guests will not have to wander around looking for them.

And, even though you have tissues available in the guest bath, have a box in the bedroom too!

4. Have a basket of items that they might need.  You can include:

~disposable razors

~extra toothbrushes and toothpaste

~Q-tips and cotton balls

~Any samples you receive such as perfume, moisturizer, etc.

~Sunscreen ( you know if you’re in Florida that you’ll need it!)

5.If you have room, include a chair with small table and light.

6.Make sure that there are outlets available for your guests to guest room traycharge their devices

7.You might have a tray with edible goodies available for a late night snack.

I have a tray with bottles of water and those small individually wrapped cookies, chocolates and packages of nuts.  I’ll also include mints and anything else guests might like.

8. If your guests will share a bathroom with others, consider a coat rack or hooks that will serve as a place for their bath or beach towels.

9.In my guest bath, I like to provide shampoo, soap, etc because I know that when I travel, I usually forget to pack something.

And, I have an extra hair dryer in the bathroom so that my guests won’t have to pack theirs.

10.And even though we have more than enough to read thanks to our wonderful devices, you might have current magazines or a book or two available.

I usually have the latest Atlantic Avenue magazine or Delray Newspaper available.

11.Waste paper basket!

12. Closet and/or drawer space

OK, I confess, my closet in my guest bedroom has some of my extra clothes. But make sure that you make some space for your guests!

My next purchase may be a luggage rack so guests won’t have to trip over their suitcases!

This is a great post from Kathy, but I'm not sure I want to present my guests with so much cmfort as they may just stay too long.

This is a great idea but I am not sure I want them to hang around for very long.

Good choice for a reblog, Roy. I have to agree with Gabe, though!
