Falling down is not failing, staying down is.
I recently heard an awesome interview between
Brian Buffini and J-Force (Justin Forsett, now of The Denver Broncos) on Brian's Buffini & Company Podcast...
and the take aways and "ah-ha's" were many!
Justin was cut from 6 teams before he got The Broncos. He had scholarships retracted and came up from humble beginnings. Ovvercoming adversity; J-Force knows how and shares some great insights about it here.
From My Notes:
Success is determined by your determination, your hard work applied, the sacrafices you are willing to make to achieve your goals i.e. the desires of your heart.
Control what you can trol, surrender to the rest, it's in God's hands.
Be willing to work harder than the competition.
Be willing to do more than your competition is willing to do.
Your circumstances do not define you.
If you are willing to put in the work, and success is hard work, there are forces at work on your behalf that will meet you with opportunity;
be ready for it...they pass you by if you are not!
Preparation that meeets opportunity becomes success!
So show up prepared, Show up over prepared in fact.
Excel in what you can control.
What you ultimately are in business for has to be bigger than you. What you are doing is for your family, your goals, your team, (your fans), etc.
"Why Be Good, When You Can Be Great?"
The more you can do (talents put to work) the longer you can stay.
It's your skills that pay the bills!
On a down week, perform a self-scouting report: Whta is working well? What is not working well? Strengths, weaknesses, what to improve, what to ask for help on, what to decide to not invest anymore time in?
BUILD A HUDDLE: Create your own "huddle"... a mastermind group of positive people to huddle up with when you need to be lift up; mentors, coaches, friends, etc.
When $#!+ happens, don't let it define you, make it refine you. Ask yourself, "What can I learn from this?"
You can't grow if you are not willing to be vulnerable; surrender.
Your work is not your identity. Your significance is about you and all God created you to be.
Be attentive to all of your life, if you want to be a super star football player, you also need to be a super star husband and a super star dad!
Your story of overcoming adversity is medicine for someone else;
share your story. Don't be isolated with your story.
Being in service to others takes your eys off of you and allows you to pour into them and they in turn pour into you; it's very fulfilling!
