Angels 8, Cubs 1 (Arcadia Minors)

Believe it or not, I do have a day job.  And sometimes I actually have to work.  Wednesday was one of those days, and unfortunately, I didn't make it to the game until the 2nd inning.  So, rather than make up a bunch of exciting plays (which come to think about it could have been a lot of fun to mess with everyones minds), I'll just return you now to regularly scheduled programming now in progress...

With two out in the top of the 2nd, and the Angels leading 4-0, Ian Kitts beat the throw to first for a single.  He stole two bases before Max struck out to end the inning.

Grady Ottomeyer, coming off a perfect 3-up, 3-down, 3 strikeout performance in the first, struckout two more in the second, allowing one run to come around to score on some wild fielding.  Max Siegel came on to pitch, striking out one to end the inning.

Not much happened on either half of the 3rd inning for the Angels except for a walk by Grady and another strikeout for Max on the mound.  The Cubs made some great defensive plays to shut down any chance of the Angels scoring, and in the bottom of the 3rd Nick Dorrell caught a Cubbie stealing on a throw down to Grady which turned into a rundown back to first where Parker Walton put on the tag.

In the 4th, the bats came back to life with Beau Kelly laying down a successful bunt to reach first.  He stole 2nd before Brandon Rosvall lined an RBI double into right-center to score Beau.  (That hitting coach he worked with on Sunday sure paid-off!)  Cade Blouin followed with a single to score Brandon, then he stole 2nd, 3rd AND home!  Michael Connelly thought he walked, but was called back to the plate with only 3 balls, so to get even he hit the next pitch for a base hit.  He stole second, and and got moved around to third on a ground-out by Henry Florance, before scoring on a sacrafice RBI by Nick Dorrell.

Max finished out the game on the mound collecting two more strikeouts.

It was a fun game on a wonderful evening.  The Angels record sits at 10-3-1 with one regular season game remaining.

Go Angels!

Just wanted to say thatnks to Dennis for keeping us up to date!  If it weren't for you I wouldn't know what was going on! It is so fun to see the boys names in the spotlight.  You do a great job giving the highlights.  We appreciate you and Tammy for constantly keeping pitch count.  Good job boys!  We will miss you Wednesday.  Beat the Rockies!
