Andrew Mooers I just tried to see if I could find you and your posts. When I Google'd it, this is what I saw already:

Jim I just had to check this post out which you were referencing in your previous post. Off I go to check out Google Guides next, Endre

What a cool concept - I love the point system. I worked diligently to get my "crown" on Waze, LOL, this may prove to be my new challenge. Thanks for this post.
Susan Haughton Waze is yet another great product owned by Google. They didn't start Waze, they bought it. All Hail Queen Susan. Congrats!
I agree, Jim Paulson . I recently started providing updates. I'm in a small community where it pays to keep my name in front of people.

Nathan Gesner I would think in a smaller town, you could dominate it. It is a good conversation starter too. I started asking staff to pose for a photo on Google Maps. ;)
Jim - Thanks for sharing this information. I will have to check it out.

Good evening Jim,
Would you please share your Google Local Guide contributions page link?
I am interested to see your pictures. Since I am residing on the East coast, the farthest to the West that I have been so far, was Detroit, MI!
My Google Local Guide contributions are here: https://www.google.com/maps/contrib/116822961995141522830/photos/@38.0746868,-79.1496506,8z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m3!8m2!3m1!1e1
Having a Pixel XL phone you would definitely rock with high resolution pictures and really convenient sharing/uploading/storage options. That would be my next phone!
I would like also to mention about "Local Guide Connect" which is a community for current Google Local Guides and they can interact with each other, manage meetups, discuss and share.
The link is: https://www.localguidesconnect.com/
Good luck!

Good afternoon,
Thanks for sharing the link, I would suggest please add it to the post as well.
Amazing photos with interesting angles and details. I liked that guy with epic mustache at brewing company. These photos will definitely broaden Google Maps and to some extend help the business.
Have a great rest of today

Thanks for your blog Jim! What fun to get ourselves inside local businesses, etc. and let them know we are putting them on Google. WIN-WIN!!

Your welcome Rob Lang . I will be joining a second Chamber of Commerce locally and that is going to be my introdction to many of it's members.
You kind of do need that local flavor that only a local person can give you, I agree.

Laura Cerrano That is exactly what Google needs. If Realtors do this, they already have the photos for their blogs here on ActiveRain about the businesses that in many cases don't even have a web presense.
Thanks Kathy Streib - glad to do my little part!
Jim, Interesting concept thank you for sharing the information.
Looking to research more on specific regions

Noel Mayer they don't have regions, as a Google Local Guide, I am free to post my photos and edits and data anywhere I travel.
Good morning Jim Paulson ,
I'm so glad that Kathy Streib featured your post in her "light-bulb moments" for the week..bookmarked and will check this out!

Dorie Dillard I am glad as well. Once in a while, my light bulb has some light left in it. Unfortunately, it takes longer to power up than it used to. LOL
Good morning Jim. Thanks to Kathy Steib I caught what I had missed! Great information. Enjoy your day!

Wayne Martin I can tell the amount of following that Kathy Streib has, because as soon as she including my blog, the comments doubled.

Jeff Dowler this is perfect for ActiveRain members, since they can take photos for Google Maps, but then use their own photos of their community in their posts to localism here on ActiveRain.
I'm so glad Kathy shared this today...how interesting. It's not something I've heard of!

uh wow and I thought authorship was the way to go until they tanked that!
Mark Loewenberg Google Authorships is one of Google's many short lived (+/- 3 years) products. A good thing about being a Google Local Guide is the data updates/uploads doesn't require any programming knowledge. Much easier.
That's great info. If I were a realtor, I'd be all over this. My old google maps got an insane number of views.

Gene Mundt, IL/WI Mortgage Originator - FHA/VA/Conv/Jumbo/Portfolio/Refi I love it. It is sure more rewarding than playing a game like Pokemon Go. I would rather collect data and leads than virtual creatures. :)
That is very interesting. I don't know that I will have to help out, but good luck to Google providing more info to us!

Wasn't aware this was a program. It fits very well with my plan to blog on local places to build my status as the local expert. Thanks!

Mick Michaud this should help a lot since it gives you an incentive to go snap photos that you can use without fear of copyright as well.
I am still enjoying this process. I am now a level 7 local guide and have 2,295,205 views on the photos I have posted.
So, Jim, do you think they got the idea of awarding points from ActiveRain?
Patricia Kennedy not sure where they got their point model from but I do like it. I have a suggestion in to them that at a level 4 or 5 guide, that they add a benefit of being able to connect with your settings are set to allow it.
