A FRIDAY THE 13TH LISTING--BEWARE A SCARY TALE!

By
Real Estate Agent with Reilly Realtors

I DON'T THINK I'M A SUPERSTITIOUS PERSON, but everyday superstitions do cause me to pause.  I won't walk under a ladder or let a black cat cross in front of me if at all possible.

So when a listing of mine became ready to put on the market on Friday the 13th I did think about and it and discuss it with my client.  We both decided it wasn't a big deal, and wanted to be on the market that weekend.

The house went quickly under contract!  But just a short few days later...

The House Flooded...not just a small leak, a full blown, whole house flood which effected almost every room in their home.

A short time later a windstorm caused roof damage,

and fence damage,

And the same storm caused my client's car to get scratched.

We worked diligently to get the water damage mitigated and everything else fixed and put back in order. The good news:  The house closed just a week later than planned and for over asking price!

My clients are the sweetest people and did not deserve this anguish.  What did I learn?

The next time, I'll list the home before midnight the night BEFORE Friday the 13th!

Hi Amy - that is really some story.  It is surprising that the house still closed.

Amy,

Glad the result was a happy ending for all the things that happened.  Congratulations on the sale, and we wish you many more  sales and never on Friday the 13th.  A

It was a happy result...this deal has A LOT of other  "unfortuante events" attached to it that were not right for a blog post but nevertheless the ending is what matters.  Thanks for reading!

Great ending to a funny story!  I am just the opposite; if I have a choice, I walk under the ladder, my family have owned several black cats that walked in front of me on many occasions, I step on cracks when given the opportunity and am not apposed to breaking mirrors. Friday the 13th, Halloween and the numbers 666 are also irrelevant. SUPERSTITION? I don't believe in it.

So strange how life works out some times! Hopefully since the house did get sold, you can look back and have a little chuckle about it.

Sounds like narrowly averted disaster!  Good for you in getting things done with so many obstacles flooding in (pun intended) along the way.

Wow what a story!  That would almost be enough to cause you to be superstitious!
