Snapchat went public last week with a huge bang, but since then it's stock price has dropped by 11%. The biggest problems facing the stock is the inability of shareholder input and most important it's inability to connect with older potential users.
What does this have to do with real estate?
I personally believe that it can be a huge opportunity for real estate agents to get in on the ground floor of this popular medium for teenagers and twentysomethings. As an agent you can use Snapchat to post listing videos and open house video announcements. No more are the days of "If you build it, they will come!" As an entrepreneur, you have to go where the buyer's are. Snapchat may be a flash in the pan tech company, but what if it's not. What if Snapchat is the next Facebook or the next instagram or twitter.
Most real estate agents, if they're not doing business in secret, have profiles on the popular social media sites like twitter and Facebook. Learning more about Snapchat can be an opportunity to get in on the ground floor and reach an audience that communicates over electronic devices exclusively. Just a thought.
