Debe Maxwell, CRS - it's a terrifying thought that people get away with this too. It makes me even more angry that many of those who fall victim are those who are generally those who cannot afford to lose that money. Not that anyone losing their money is ever okay, but to target people who are more vulnerable than others is sickening.
I have had this happen as well, Mary! Sadly, potential tenants have either already mailed checks or completed an application for the fictitious owner, also providing them their SS #. It's so sad that people will do this to others!
