A SPECIAL PLACE WILL ALWAYS BE TO ME
The majority of us sell real estate for a living. How many of you have helped a young family purchase their first home? We all know they will be making memories in the home as they bring up the family in that house. Does this bring back memories where you grew up? I had a very active life when I was a child.
I grew up in a small suburb of Buffalo, New York. It was called North Tonawanda, NY. Where is this place? I tell everyone I grew up in Buffalo since this city is recognized by most people because of the heavy snow falls. Anyway, I grew up in a small town of about 40,000 people. It was a place where everyone knew each other. I had no problems making friends at all. The high school teams were known at the Lumberjacks. North Tonawanda was once the larges lumber yard in the world in early 1900's. The Erie Canal goes into the Niagara River at this point.
I had the small town experience of knowing all my grade school teachers. We would run into them at the local grocery store. I grew up playing in the local little league baseball teams. I have fond memories of going out for ice cream after we won the championship game when I was twelve. I have many friends to this day from my home town. I have very fond memories of North Tonawanda.
The summer times were very humid at times. Yes, we would go swimming at the local public swimming pool and neighborhood pools. However, we swam in the Erie Canal and Niagara River during my teenage years. Yes, it was dangerous if one did not know how to swim. The bridge in the background was called the swinging bridge because it was used for trains back in the day to cross the Erie Canal. We would
jump off the top of it. It was fun at the time
Then, I left the area after high school to attend college. I had the experience of meeting my wife at college. We have lived in several different areas of America. Currently, we live in Phoenix, Arizona. I will always have fond memories of my childhood. Thanks for hosting this contest.
