Yesterday, I was admiring the hellebores blooming away like crazy in my yard. Sometimes called Lenten Roses, they had been in bud and waiting to come out in full force for several weeks. And you never know exactly when they will bloom. It depends on the weather.
We have had temperatures nearing 70 degrees for several weeks, and Ash Wednesday was this past week, so they decided to go crazy.
And then came today. Great gobs of snow fell this morning, and now the sun is melting it all. The poor hellebores had been hidden in all the snow and are now shaking it off as if to say, "Well, I never!"
So all the panicking by the TV weather gals (which I don't believe most of the time) about rush hour pandemonium seems to have been for naught.
