If it looks too easy think again: going back and correcting mistakes in blog posts written nine years ago is not as easy as it looks. It takes time and effort!
Just as a background when I joined Active Rain, I had no idea what I was doing. I could compare how I learned to blog to the way most people have learned how to swim 50+ years ago, i.e.: using the old sink or swim method.
The non-swimmers were thrown into the fast-moving river and their teachers hoped that they learned to swim and not drown. Lucky for me I did learn how to swim that way and I am still here to write about it.
At the same time when I joined Active Rain in 2008 it was a very similar experience. Here I am 2421 one blog posts under my belt, I managed to learn how to write. Well let me qualify it and just say, better than my first ten blog posts.
I have been meaning to go back and fix some of those old and let’s just say weak posts. Well we all have excuses. In my case being busy with work, having an average of ten listings month in and month out. Having three cats and a dog, well you get the idea. I could go on if you are interested, I cook every day and the list goes on and on.
So, thanks to our friend Debbie Laity who challenged us to go back and fix out less than noteworthy posts where we would not be ashamed to have it associated with our name, I thought this would be relatively easy task to take on.
Hence, I went back to my first ten posts, all I can say is I was totally ashamed of myself. Not one post had a picture. Not one post had the proper tagging. Not one post had been connected to groups that might help in the SEO or at the minimum in the exposure of those posts. Well to add insult to injury there were no real proper way to contact me in the post. So, a simple easy correction to freshen up ten posts was like writing ten brand new blog posts.
So Debbie Laity thank you for making my Internet Presence a bit better. I also hope that Google Appreciates it as well. Now I need to go back in the near future and I know I have a lot of work to do!
