Home is Where the Heart is

We’ve all heard the old saying, “home is where the heart is.”  Most of us would agree with that sentiment, and if we truly believe that home is where the heart is, then that makes us pretty important people!  If you are a real estate agent or a REALTORÒ, your job is to help people achieve their goals and dreams.  If a buyer’s home is where his heart is, that makes you a quasi-heart doctor!

When it comes to matters of the heart, I don’t let just anyone help me.  My heart is too important to not take care with those I let into it.  Your buyers deserve the same consideration.  Because their hearts will be dwelling in that new home, it’s your job to make sure they have the very best home they can afford.  Buyers are pretty special people and deserve special agents helping them.

Home is where the heart is doesn’t mean the same thing to everyone.  Not every buyer needs or wants a 2,000 sq. ft. home with a fenced-in yard.  Some buyers only need a small living area in a condo or a cottage.  They put their hearts into their homes, and it’s your responsibility to find the right fit for their situations.

If buyers trust you to help them find that perfect home for their hearts, you must be ready; you must know the inventory, you must understand the market and you must definitely do your homework.  Many real estate agents listen to others when it comes to market statistics.  They take someone else’s word for the condition of the market, and they don’t invest the time necessary to find out for themselves whether the statistics they receive are valid.  To be a good buyer agent requires diligence and good stewardship of one’s time. Buyers deserve agents who back up their information with data, not just opinion.  If you truly want to serve a buyer well, be diligent and check out all the statistics you receive from well-meaning people.

If your home is where your heart is, then put yourself in a buyer’s place.  Don’t take their adventure of finding a new home lightly.  Make it your priority because buyers deserve the absolute best so that they can put their hearts into the homes you sell them. I’ve always believed we don’t sell houses – houses sell houses.  Buyers will fall in love with a home without you having to convince them to love it. Their hearts will soar toward the right home.  They just need the right REALTORÒ or real estate agent to help find that right home.

I agree that the house will sell itself. My job is to help put the homebuyer and the house together so the magic can happen. Have a great day!
