Frank Dwight Baldwin

Managing Real Estate Broker with Fathom Realty AR LLC PB00068179

Frank Dwight Baldwin was born in Manchester, Michigan back in 1842.  Sorry I can’t relate to you what he did as a youngster but I can tell you the rest of the story.  this is going to be short and sweet.

He joined the 19th Michigan Infantry during the Civil War fighting in all of his regiment’s battles from 1862 to 1865.  After the war, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Regular Army assigned to the 5th U.S. Infantry.  He saw action on the Red river in Montana in 1876, for his actions he was promoted to Captain.

He also served with distinction during the campaigns against Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse.  Serving in the Philippines during the Spanish-American War he was promoted to Brigadier General in 1902 and to Major General in 1906 when he retired from duty.  He died in Denver Colorado in1923 he was 80.  Now can you tell me what he is most noted for in the history books of this United States?  That’s okay for you see he is only one of 19 military people to earn the Medal of Honor twice during his service.

Wow, not sure where you find all these tidbits but I never want to play Trivial Pursuit with you James just in case you know all this stuff for real. That is fascinating that 19 people have received the medal twice, they must all be outstanding people.

So many Americans that came before us and served to defend and protect and today people riot because they don't like the outcome: whether it is an election or a basketball game.

You always find the most fascinating people in history. I can't imagine what you have to survive to earn the Medal of Honor once, let alone two times.
