Three Brands I Trust and Why...

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams of Central PA RS334568

Perhaps since it's lunch time, in response to Ron and Alexandra Seigel's March Challenge, I found myself looking in my refrigerator and pantry and I quickly realized that I have some serious loyalty to particular brands.

I have held a Costco membership for over twenty years.  Costco continues to be my 'go-to' place when shopping for anything from office supplies to laundry detergent or even new sunglasses. Kirkland is the Costco brand - and I have found it to be synonymous with excellence in quality.
The closest Costco is a 45 minute drive from my home so when I go, I tend to stock up on the basic necessities to keep my pantry well stocked.  I am rarely disappointed with the Kirkland brand.

Thankfully a bit closer to home is Wegmans.  I shop at Wegmans on a regular basis.  I love that the store is clean, inviting, and they pay close attention to detail.  My shopping experience is always both pleasant and even a bit of an adventure. The store is well stocked and they introduce new items often so I always appreciate the variety.  The produce section is vibrant and alluring and the gourmet cheeses are delicious.  I often walk a slower pace past the floral section as well as the bakery department to breathe deeply of the decadent aroma.

I remember my mother buying Barilla pasta as a child.  I never asked her why but I can still recall seeing the boxes in my childhood kitchen cupboard. I suspect it's because my dad liked his pasta 'Al Dente' and Barilla softens when cooked but doesn't become 'mushy.'
Varieties of Barilla pasta are always on hand in my pantry. Great for a quick, easy meals especially for last minute dinner invitations.  One of my favorites is pasta primavera using Barilla mezzi rigatoni.

The food brands we eat on a daily basis and share with others is a strong reflection of the trust we, as consumers, put in the particular companies we choose.

Cheers - and Bon Appetit!!

I came close to writing about Costco as well. I would say it makes my top 5. I have not ever experienced Wegman's. We buy Barilla pasta all the time but I never thought of it as one of my most trusted brands :-) Kasey

I think what our parents used as trusted brands would transfer to us as it did with you in your pasta choice. We live much closer to a Costco and now it is only us, Trudy and I find a lot of the packaging too large, so we are discovering other providers. Wegman's is a good alternative and their stores are very inviting.

I was wondering when someone would come up with Costco Maria Sapio. That is also one of my favorites and we have 3 of them within 15 minutes of where I live.

3 brands I can certainly get behind!  I love Kirkwood, Wegmans was the first grocery store in PA to sell alcohol, and I LOVE Barillas protein pasta (not as tasty as the original, but super healthy) --- great choices Maria!

Good afternoon Maria,

Living in the home of the big W; it is only occasionally I shop there as we have a local store with better meats.

Have never been to a Costco and have heard nothing but good things.

Oh and Barilla is what you will find in our cupboard.

Make yourself an astonishing day.

Great post, Maria.  My vote is Wegmans as well as I seem to stop there at least twice a week.

BTW-- loved your post about Carlisle, PA.  That is one area of PA I have not visited and I have lived my entire life in PA

Well, it seems you are all about food, haha.  Costco seems to have it all and I do most of my shopping there as well.

I like Costco and can always find a real find there. I particularly like their walkin cooler where the fresh produce is fresh and so tempting.
