- WHERE - Old Town Kensington Maryland along Armory Avenue, Howard Avenue & Montgomery Avenue along Antique Row one block off Connecticut Avenue
- WHY - April 23rd is a symbolic day in literature. In 1995, April 23rd was declared the International Day of the Book by UNESCO. The festival draws inspiration from a Catalan tradition called The Festival of the Rose
Kensington Maryland's early history is seen in the beautiful Victorian architecture. Antique shops, restaurants, art galleries and gift shops make the historic downtown a fun place to visit during the day or evening.
Kensington Maryland feels like small town America. The town is adjacent to Rock Creek Park and Washington D.C.
The Day of the Book Festival will feature guest authors like Roye Okupe a Nigerian web developer & creative specialist who holds a Masters in Computer Science from George Washington University. Andrew Gifford is the author of the book, We all Scream: The fall of the Gifford's Ice Cream Empire. Gifford tells the story of an infamous local ice cream store and the dark family secrets no one could have imagined.
