You won't believe it, but today I was told by an agent in my office to whom I had submitted an offer and accepted the counter, that should "control my client" because he decided to NOT buy the property. We had a FIFTY FOUR page home inspection report, and even if this buyer was a millionaire I would have told him not to buy the house. Since it was my offices listing, I discussed this with my buyer but never told him one way or the other what he should do. He made up his own mind. He decided against buying the house and when I told the other agent (who is very "big" out here) she blew up and told me that I need to control my client and berated me for how many buyers she turned down on this property. For petes sake, it was marked pending, not sold! She could have taken back up offers, and the property was such a dog that I doubt seriously she had other offers. I mean come on, FIFTY FOUR pages of home inspector notes! Come on!
I am mostly upset with myself for not standing up to her. I just sort of laughed it off and told her that we may find another property that is listed by her and hope to do a deal with her later. She was not amused.
Did I blow it with this "big" agent? Will she not be willing to negotiate with me now after this? If so, I have to say I can really care less for my sake, but worry about the sake of my clients. I pride myself on ALWAYS doing what is best for them. I know I did the right thing.
Oh well.
