I agree with this. We bought our home over a year ago for $139,900 and it was appraised for that. "Zestimate" shows it's currently valued (as of today) $102,373. And we had an agent call us last week to ask if we were interested in selling, because his buyer "is looking in the $150,000 price range."

This is a clever way to talk about online valuations, and we all know which ones there are. I think it's important to educate sellers and buyers about how these work and why they can be so wrong - but telling them to not use them won't work as they love the convenience!

Any web site telling you what your home is worth is only trying to get you to sign up with them so they can sell youir name to some desparate agent.
