What is the best way to rack up points on A/R? I Want to be featured 1st in my area...
you try and write 10 blogs a week........and comment on other peoples blogs say 20 a day.......they get to know you you get to know them.........and a reciprocol folloing starts..:-) Plus enter all contests1
The answer is blog and comment, comment and blog. The following is a breakdown of points you can receive...
10 blogs/week @200 each = 2000/week
10 blog/day @25 = 250/day or 1750/week
If anyone disagrees with the above, please correct me.
Christine: You are correct with your information. Write ten blog posts a week x 200 points each = 2,000 points. Each article you write and submit is called a post... and the overall collection of each writer's posts is called their blog. Blog is short for web log... as in a "log" of all your posts, or entries.
And Ron... the best way to become featured in your area... is to, as they say, to earn it. Read other people's blog posts, find a group of blogs and writers you like, and then try and pattern your own writings after theirs. You have to write from your heart... not just any old thing just for points. If you only do that, you will tire of it, and your readers will become bored.
Also... the more interesting your writing is, the more comments you will get, and the more comments you get... the more points get added to your point total for that single post. Some of my posts that get many comments will see the original 200 points given just for writing it... grow to over 300 points because it is an interesting post, and many people read it, and then comment on it.
Hope this helps. By the way... Hi Liz ! Hi Christine ! Ron... click on both Liz and Christine's names, and go read their blogs and posts. They frequently read mine... and they both are great writers. Take care...
Ron: By the way... in order for your post to get counted for it's 200 points... it must be at least fifty words long. Therefore, since this post is shorter than that... it may notbe counted for points. So, click on the edit button, and expand it up to fifty words.
That is great information on how to build up your score very quickly. I wanted to inquire about the contest as I have yet to see any post or comments about contest.
I guess I will need to keep a closer look on Active Rain more frequently.
Thank you for asking the question.
I hope you are referring to your county because I just checked your standings and for Redlands, you're almost there.
I echo the comments on posting quality blogs and also beg you not to break blogs into multiple ones just to rack up points. People see right through that type of 'strategy' and remember that clients and perspective clients can and do look you up on the internet and will find your AR site. When they click on blogs do you want them leaving with a feeling that you have knowledge in real estate or that you are a habitual poster of crap.
Ron - Expand your profile, that's worth quite a few points - and allows people to really get to know you. Start blogging and you'll be surprised how quickly you advance in your area. I'm in Wisconsin and have been blogging about 2 months, I am already up to 7th in the state. I am just having fun. I post my listings, market reports and some personal stuff. It's fun and I love the Google Juice!
Happy Blogging.
Ron,
There are also points for inviting others - you get 10% of the points they earn....so invite someone to join Active Rain
I took #2 spot in weeks by commenting and inviting. The #1 spot is my wife. Points are great but just get to know some people on here is better, Some are nuts LOL.
Points are important but the content will get you read and help with a organic google search, so if you wan tcustomers to find you that is better than A/R points
As a few people pointed out, don't just blog for the points, but also for the SEO content. Let me plus that and say that these are all great points (no pun intended). Also remember that the high level purpose of a blog is to demonstrate to potential buyers and sellers that YOU are an expert on your market! Do that by sharing market data, information on the community, schools, events, even people or businesses in your neighborhood. That is the approah that I try to take. So if you are doing "Members Only" postings all the time, then you aren't being as effective as you could be.
I asked another prolific active rain user on this site how she leverages A/R to find new business, she hasn't responded. Have any of you been succesful in leveraging A/R to find new customers?
I would like to hear real life examples on how you found new business on Active Rain. Sorry, for not being specific before.
Hi Ron - Many others have offered sound advice in earlier comments. Obtaining the #1 position in Redlands should be a breeze. Overcoming your compeitors for the top position for San Bernardino County will be a more difficult challenge. If points, and AR area rankings are your ultimate goals, you're mssing the point of blogging here (or anywhere else for that matter).
The successful Active Rain RE professionals understand and possess a "Pay it Forward" mentality. They are givers. They give away solid information, timely tips, write accurate, helpful posts. Those post are focused at these entities: consumers, peers, search engines and the press.
Blogging best practices should be used when writing post if you want more comments and opportunities to interact with consumers. That's blogging for business. The best way I have found to do this is to take a look at the highly subscribed bloggers here at AR and learn from them. Read, read and read some more. Then "Just Do It"... but do it right. That's the "Ying and Yang of Blogging". Read, read and comment then write a post. Control the length of your post, structure them to be reader-friendly by using bullets, complimentary images, sub headlines and a strong call to action at the end to generate comments. Ask open ended questions to solicit a response from your readers. Don't forget a really catchy headline that grabs the attention of the reader and begs them to read more is so important. If your headlines can't pass the "Who Cares" test, go rewrite the headlines again until it cuts the mustard. Let me know if you need more help. I try to practice what I preach!
This is an old post but raises some very good advise! I appreciate everyone who posted their comments on here!
One thing I have noticed is that there are not a lot of AR users who have been active for a period of time. Most people who used it in years past, like this post, used it for blogging for a few months then haven't posted anything for years. they got their ranking from blogs in 2007 and 2008. How many of you are still active on here?
Leads me to think that it doesn't produce much in the way of real business, it's just a social site. Any thoughts?
