Polish Easter Blessing of Food 
At noon on Saturday April 15, there will be a blessing of food. This is a polish tradition known as
święcenie pokarmow wiełkanocnych.
A basket of food your family will eat for Easter dinner can be brought in to St Joseph’s Church and blessed in a simple ceremony.
This blessing of the baskets dates back to the 15th century. This tradition is still practiced by most families in Poland, on Holy Saturday.
Since there is a large number of Polish families in Stevens Point, some of these religious traditions are observed in our area as well.
