A couple of years ago, the Metroplex Association of Realtors required members to contribute to a TV ad campaign that NAR was planning. The cost wasn't much. Less than 50 bucks.
I expect every other local Association's members were required to do the same thing.
But we were not privy to the storyboards for the ad campaign, and we were required to trust NAR's opinion that the TV ads would benefit us.
The first set features actress Elizabeth Banks acting silly. I mean, really silly.
For an example, in one ad, Banks rides an ostrich on to the set while a bunch of other silliness is going on. Another she has shaving cream on her face.
The second set features actor Ty Burnell sitting in a chair by a fireplace posing as Phil Dumphy, Realtor. He's also acting silly. I mean, really silly.
Our competitions, Trulia and Zillow, also have some TV ads. One is about a young fellow who one an agent helps buy his first home, and it is the first time anyone in his family has ever been able to buy their own home.
Would you call the Zillow or Trulia member agent or the Realtor member agent whose representive rides an ostrige or acts silly in front of a fire place.?
Parenthetically, I often find myself wondering how many of those running NAR and the state and local associations for us were ever successful Realtors?
