The "C" Word? And Is Your Stack Bigger Than My Stack?

The “C” word is one that every real estate agent should learn and never forget.  Listing agents are marketing agents, and with each marketing task there must be “Consistency.”

 

 

Online and offline marketing require it.  It’s not an option. With online marketing, we market to Google, and the first “fact” I learned from Katerina Gasset is Google demands reliability.  In order to be considered a “reliable user” one MUST be “consistent” with online marketing.

 

 

Offline marketing follows the same rules. Direct Mail Marketing is my number one offline method, when searching for fresh listings.  My postcards have my daughter’s cell phone number on them, and tomorrow’s listing appointment is from a postcard recipient.

 

The conversation with the homeowner was another reason that reinforces the need to be “consistent” with offline marketing.  The homeowner shared with my daughter the fact that he has a “stack of postcards” from years of my mailing, and now he’s ready to list!!

 

 

Don’t’ think for a moment of hearing that information didn’t bring a big smile to my face.  I knew from previously shared stories that people save the postcards.  I’ve never heard of anyone having a stack of them!!!

 

I’m sure he’ll give them to my daughter. I’d love to see which ones he saved and how large that stack is!!!  I’d also like to know if he received any cards from other agents, and if “my stack was bigger than their stack!!” 

 

 

Just another ego thing and a thought to share....

Barbara - I'll bet your stack is bigger than the others stacks combined. Agents are notorious for not sticking with a program.

Some try and stop when they don't get instant results. Some get results but get distracted by the next shiny object.

I'm so glad to see this post featured. Many times on a listing appointment I meet with a home owner who has saved my quarterly statistical reports that are delivered..they always read them and some keep quite a stack from year to year. No other agent in our community is as consistent and diligent in marketing..I won't get every listing..but I don't want every listing..marketing like you mean it consistently does work!!

Good morning, Barbara!

I agree with you.  I started out in the business by sending postcards.  That is how I got my very first listing.  To top it off, I received a call several months ago from a gentleman, stating the he was calling me from one of my postcards he received.  When I got together with him, he showed me the postcard.  It was one of the ones that I sent out during my first couple of years in real estate.  Definitely shows that consumers hold on to the cards until they need real estate assostance.
