Are You On The Way?

I have a lockbox on this condo door, but I come to show the unit every time there is a request.

I know this unit better than any agent, we remodeled it, and all these details that I know the agent does not know.

I also come couple of minutes early and turn on the lights, make sure everything is in order.

And because I am coming, when I get the request and they say tht they will be there about 2 PM, I suggest they choose one of the two options.

  1.       Exact time. Then I will come and be there. But then please do not tell me that this was your sixth condo and they were very particular, so this is the reason I spend 2.5 hours waiting…
  2.       And if you do not know the exact time, no problem. Call me and give me about 20-30 min and I will come.

And this is the arrangement we made today with an agent, who had a customer to look at our gorgeous condo.

I was at a meeting when he called and said that he was all the way across the city and was coming, but I had time, and I came there right on time. The agent was not yet there, so I prepared the unit for showing.

And then I got a text message: “Just wondering if you are on your way”.

Kinda shocking. I texted that I was inside the unit, and then I thought that something was wrong here. Usually, when you take people across the city to Ormond Beach, it rarely makes sense. But it is not my customer, he knows better.

Impatient, I am dialing him. He tells me that he is about 10 minutes away at a different condo, which he thought was my listing, and that it would take him only 10 minutes to come, but he will not come, as his customer does not want to be in this area. He said he was sorry, that it was his fault.

I did not get angry or even upset. Yes, I lost some time, but this was hilariously funny. Another condo guru… Our MLS has a map button and you can immediately see where the property is located, but you need to push that button to see… and, obviously, this is too much to ask for.

Life is so technologically advanced these days. Everything is at the push of a button. But so many agents can’t figure out how to push the button.

I'm glad you were able to see the amusing side of this event! To be honest, I'd probably have been ticked off at the waste of my time and effort. You handled this better than I would have!

True indeed, Jon Zolsky, Daytona Beach, FL I have had this same occurrence on numerous occasions. Do we get mad or upset? No, since sometime soon, we will be dealing with that same agent.

Frustrating, but it's part of life. I had an appointment scheduled in my office at 1pm yesterday. The guy calls at 1:05PM to say he is "running a few minutes late." He showed up at 2:30PM. It turns out he was on the phone the entire time, right outside my office! Have a great day, Jon Zolsky, Daytona Beach, FL

Hi Jon - We had an agent not show up for a showing on our house that we spent hours getting ready - it was on the wrong side of town! Duh. We were less amused than you : (

Kat Palmiotti - it could go either way. My fuse is not the longest :) But when you are waiting for a door to open, and instead getting a message asking whether you were on your way, and understand that they are somewhere there in the universe - it is funny.

Sandy Padula and Norm Padula, JD, GRI NMLS#1483386 -   What bothers me is my worsened memory. Every time I am thinking that I would remember this agent, and next time... and then next time comes, I do not remember who that was, it was all on the phone, and I have no clue. :)

Dick Greenberg - It is so not unusual, that it woule be dangerous to be upset, as we should not be upset too often.

But I like those calls when you call the agent asking how far they are, and they tell you that they are not going to come because it is too far from the ocean. Interesting, when he called and scheduled, it wasn't any closer.
