Crystal Pier Hotel in Pacific Beach

Crystal Pier Hotel in Pacific Beach CA

I was touring around Pacific Beach one afternoon several years ago, taking a video and some photos, after visiting a multi-family home I had listed. I had several hours to explore this cool seaside community close to downtown San Diego, and learn more about the restaurants, beach, and amenities.

And I stumbled across the Crystal Pier Hotel, which is, as the name implies, a hotel on a pier in the heart of town with what I imagine are pretty incredible views. It might be worth a visit some night for a quick getaway.

Very cool - I'd never heard of this place but may need to make it a destination.  As you said, I imagine the views aren't too shabby

Well I am the same way Beth Atalay . The photos were hard to get because of the sun so you can't quite get the full effect of the hotel. I would love to stay here some time - there are some great restaurants along the beach within walking distance.

John Meussner  - I would like to be out at the end to really take in the sunset. I udnerstand they book up many months in advance, especially in the summer.

I think the pier was originally built in 1927 so there is a bit of history Joe Pryor

Well that would be me and ships so this would be perfect Grant Schneider

Hi Jeff -- a true slice of California(and more specifically San Diego) history --- PB definitely has some deep roots -- again, it's been years errr decades since I've visited and I don't recall hearing about the hotel.

Hi Jim Cheney  - some day I will check it out in person  rather than just walking by!

No doubt that's true Hannah Williams or anyone in love with the ocean and beach!

Michael Jacobs  - I just sorta stumbled upon it myself. PB is an interesting community, and a pretty lively one in the summers with lots of tourists, especially in the downtown area by the beaches.

Pacific Beach is a pretty neat town, right on the ocean, and near San Diego. It gets pretty crowded and parking can be a challenge anywhere near the downtown area and beaches. Not sure about the reputation for surfing but the hotel sure looked like a neat place.
