The ActiveRain Community...Just Like Real Life.
Mick Michaud wrote a post asking Who Really is on ActiveRain? And, it’s a very good question for which there is a myriad of answers. Just go to his post and read the comments.
Mick noted, in his response to my comment, that perhaps over time, the community evolves into an Ambassador’s Club, with members either “graduating” into it or leaving the community.
I don’t know what the answer is because without going to the list of Ambassadors and looking at it, I couldn’t begin to name everyone with the Ambassador badge.
ActiveRain is very much like any other real or social community out there. People come, people go, people return.
And just as in real life, we don’t get to see the people we know every day, and there are some we’re just as happy not to see.
Just for grins, I hopped back to see the faces who joined ActiveRain back on February 6, 2008, the day I joined. There were 210 people who joined on that day. Twenty-six never bothered to upload a profile photo.
And of those 210 people, I did an off the cuff count and found that I’d only interacted via comments and reading their posts with 16 of the members.
Some have joined but never felt compelled to follow through with blogging.
Some joined but life got in the way.
Some joined but never had or took the opportunity to engage with other members here so left.
And as a result of an improving market and increased SEO, due in part to what they learned here, many agents have become very busy and find it hard to carve out time here.
Ask most members who have been here through changes in format, new ownership, and the infamous curtain and they will tell you that they are not here solely for the purpose of blogging.
At the core of this "cyberville" home for all things related to real estate are all of the members and the sense of community that we feel.
So, Mick, who really is on ActiveRain? Just look around, and at any given time you’ll find a friend.
That’s who’s here on ActiveRain!
