Let's continue our look at living options in Atlanta if you want to live near a MARTA station.
Buckhead/Lenox MARTA Stations
This series of articles has been prompted by the collapse of I-85 in late March, that closed both North and Southbound lanes of I-85. Repairs are underway as we write this, and an open is expected somewhere between May 21st and mid-June. (The contract has a $3.1M incentive "carrot" in front of them to finish the construction as soon as possible. Just imagine where you live, if not in Atlanta, and one of your major freeways was completely closed. Yikes!
Buckhead is serviced by two MARTA stations. Lenox Mall Station is the oldest, located on the Gold Line and really best services Lenox Mall and the nearby office buildings. Condos located "near" this MARTA station are more limited than the Buckhead Station.
Where IS the Lenox Mall Transit Station?
The Lenox station is located on the "back side" of the mall, off of Lenox Road and East Paces Ferry Road. It's not directly connected to the Mall.
Near Lenox Mall, you will find the Grandview, The Oaks at Buckhead and 2901 Lenox. There are other condo options, but they are probably farther than an acceptable walking distance, and we wanted to focus on those options where you could live, and then WALK to a transit station.
What is At the Lenox Mall Transit Station?
Well, of course, Lenox Mall! You will find the JW Marriott Atlanta Buckhead just across the street. (So if you wanted to stay downtown, and attend a meeting here, or vice versa, you could take MARTA to a convention in Downtown Atlanta at the World Congress Center. Further up Lenox Road you will find the Atlanta Marriott Buckhead Hotel. (Could that BE any more confusing?) The Alexan Lenox Apartments and 3200 Lenox Apartments are within walking distance of the station.
Where is the Buckhead MARTA Transit Station?
This station is on the newer Red Line, and is located right on Peachtree Road. Exit from this station, and you are across the street from the Atlanta Financial Center, and walking distance to condominium buildings like Realm, Sovereign, Terminus and the Mandarin Oriental as well as the Grand Hyatt Buckhead and the Intercontinental Hotel Buckhead. There are numerous restaurants in the area, and Lenox Mall is just up the street.
