Does Always Being Busy, Make you Better?

By: Dylan Bugallo

My fellow executive team members and I are currently reading a very uplifting and inspirational book. The book is called “You are a Badass” written by Jen Sincero. Not only does the book motivate you to be the most “Badass” version of yourself, it also ignites a sense of confidence within yourself that you may not have felt before.

Throughout the book there were many quotes from the author that caught my attention; however there was one that especially stood out in particular. “Stop talking about how busy you are. Focus on what you enjoy about what you do and the spaces in between the doing instead of feeling weighed down by it all.”  When I read this paragraph I put the book down and did a serious self evaluation. Each day, we think about our daily responsibilities, commitments, and what most who go without would consider a blessing and all too often we complain.  Sadly, there are so many things in life that we view in a negative or stressful manner. What if I told you that the negative views we have can be transitioned into positive and spirit lifting views?

Don’t think about having to cook dinner for your family after a long day of work as a task, instead express gratitude for having a family to sit down with each evening who loves you.  Remember to make each day feel like a celebration – after all we woke up with the means to have a warm meal when others less fortunate sorrowfully go to bed hungry and cold each evening.

John F. Kennedy’s words are as powerful and heartfelt today as when he said them on Thanksgiving Day, November 5th, 1963 - “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live them”

Every day we take something for granted. Life is too short to have negative views and a sad outlook on how you live. Thinking negatively will not get us far.  Life’s struggles usually end when appreciation begins - Put a smile on your face and thank god everyday that you have a great, healthy and positive life! You are your only roadblock to happiness and success!

So tell me, what are you grateful for today?

For me I am busy in all aspects of my life.  Does it make me better, I don't know but i am sharper I do believe.
