The Scoop on Local Simpsonville SC

Real Estate Broker/Owner with PRODUCER Realty, LLC

Nestled in a quiet corner of the Greenville metro area, just over 48,000 people call Simpsonville, South Carolina home.  Once more closely identified by the neighboring Greenville, this charming Southern city has progressively gained a more personal identity for both its residents and visitors.  Simpsonville has evolved into a community that boasts a high quality of life, stability, and recreation opportunities for those that choose to establish a future in this town. Over the past 10 years, the population of Simpsonville has more than doubled and continues to experience exponential growth.  This area of the Upstate has shown significantly higher growth rates than other cities within the Greenville metro area.  This brings to question what factors are contributing to the steady influx of new residents choosing to call this area home.

Sure, there are numerous well known, chain type of businesses that are abundant in this area, but there are also a few hidden charms that may have been overlooked by those of us with busy lives and schedules that often prevent the time to venture beyond the usual routine.  Without further ado, may we introduce you to a few of these local, historic side of Simpsonville businesses that help create a great place to live, work, thrive and grow…

1. Downtown Simpsonville

A diverse collection of shops, vendors, and eateries line this quintessential Main Street, creating a pleasurable environment for a day out or a relaxing evening.  Highlighting the local restaurants available on the blocks that form the Downtown, you can enjoy Frank & Co. Pizza, Thai Cuisine, Shortfield’s, Zamorah’s, or Henry’s Smokehouse.  Each of the listed restaurants are locally owned and operated.  Whether dessert or a midday treat, Tea ‘n Things offers the best tea and smoothies in town, then The Ice Cream Station can fill any sweet tooth desire, or the Exchange Co. coffee shop/home of delicious crepe creating masterminds will have what your palate desires.  The newer Unterhausen The Castle Cellar Pub is a charming, small indoor spot with additional outdoor seating for sharing a drink or good German food with friends.  Businesses are not limited to eateries only though, as you will find stores such as Carolina Olive Oil, selling only the finest olive oils, balsamic vinegars, and spices around.

2. Local Lodging

Do you have friends or relatives that will be visiting the area?  Or, are you planning a visit to explore the Upstate?  If so, you should consider this charming option to afford you the sweet hospitality that the South is often known for.  The Garden House B&B is the only lodging of the Bed & Breakfast type residing in the city of Simpsonville.  This lovely home was built as a shining jewel in 1905 and has since been restored to an even more beautiful glory by owners and inn keepers, Roy and Frances Shelton.  In addition to the excellent service and comfortable accommodations, a stay at this B&B offers a prime location for you to enjoy Simpsonville or the surrounding areas in one of the five lovely suites.  After a stay at the Garden House, you may never want to go back to a traditional hotel or motel.

3. Local on Fairview Road

Just in case the validity of our word, stating that pretty much every known national seller of goods or restaurant is also available in Simpsonville could be in question… behold, the one and half mile stretch of Fairview Road.  This major thoroughfare and connecting roadways conveniently hold the entry to grocery stores, retail shopping outlets, hobby stores, pet stores, home improvement stores, and basically any store in between those categories.  However, if you are still looking for local outlets, then you are in for a treat.  Gems are hidden right in clear sight on this traveled road!  For starters, Julia and Jason, owners of Stella’s Southern Bistro will treat you to Low Country inspired dishes all while serving the portions with ingredients generated from local farms and providers.  For those who may not be familiar with the lingo “Low Country,” this is a South Carolinian term for the coastal region of this state.  For a more relaxed lunch or dinner The Mad Cuban Café, serving authenticate Cuban food, is a must try located right in the heart of businesses on Fairview Road.  Venturing in to other shops you will find wonderful local selections such as Crafted Beer, a father and son owned business providing the best local and independent brewery finds, and Cycle Haus, a world class cycling shop for everything from custom bikes to apparel that can equip you for rides all over the Upstate, where cycling is well respected.

These are only a few examples of the quality, service, and selection that you can uncover in Simpsonville, SC.  There are so many more aspects to the city and we hope that these few have peeked your interest to warrant further exploration.  If you are interested in visiting the Upstate or are already planning to relocate, please let us know and we will be pleased to assist you in the search for a new home. We live here, work here, gather here as a community, and we hope that it is quite evident that we love "here!"
