Let's continue North on the Gold Line, which ends in Doraville, at Assembly Doraville. Let's see what the next option is for Living Near a MARTA Transit Station.

Prompted by the collapse of I-85 after a fire that closed both the North and Southbound lanes of the freeway, I'm doing a series on Living Near a MARTA Transit Station. Our next "stop" is Brookhaven/Oglethorpe. When you look at the area around this station, you probably stop and think, "Why did they ever put a MARTA station HERE?" Good question...and one I can't really answer. Most likely it was thought that service to Oglethorpe University was a good reason for a station here.
Where IS the Brookhaven/Oglethorpe MARTA Station?
The station is located at Peachtree Road, N. Druid Hills Road, and Dresden Drive.
This location has much more of a suburban feel in that there is little residential located close to the station. In fact, the University is a mile walk North! It's an elevated station, and provides connecting bus service to North Druid Hills, Toco Hills, and the Peachtree Road business district. Recently, MARTA had been working with developers and the City of Brookhaven for a mixed used redevelopment of some of the surface parking lots into a "town center" but the project was cancelled in late 2016. (Political stuff we will stay out of here...feel free to Google articles about this!)
What Types of Living Options are Near the MARTA Station?
There are two condominium communities located within walking distance, Village Place Brookhaven and Peachtree Place. Village Place is located on Dresden Drive and Peachtree Place is located on Peachtree Road, just South of the station. Most of the residential living options in the area are either townhome communities, or single family homes. To the West of the station is the Capital City Country Club. As you might imagine, these are estate-style homes and are priced from $1,100,000 to $3,850,000. (probably not a transit rider?)
But to the East of the Brookhaven/Oglethorpe MARTA station you will find single-family homes priced in the $600-900,000 range and a wide variety of townhome communities. Some of these will be close enough to walk to the station while others will probably be a short drive. There are some 1,200 parking spaces in surface lots next to the station.
North of the MARTA station, as well as along Dresden Drive, you will find several rental apartment buildings offering rental living options that you can walk to the station.
What is At the Brookhaven/Oglethorpe MARTA Station?
The commercial offerings are limited to two strip-type shopping centers. One features Total Wines, and just South is a HUGE Kroger Marketplace. Town Brookhaven is North of the station, and has numerous restaurants, apartments and retail such as Marshall's, Costco, and a Publix Market.
I created a search based on the map below. Yeah, it's strange shape. I was trying to stay more East of the Station and avoid the Country Club area. As always, the perfect home you maybe looking for could be just outside this search box, and not appear in these results. I can build a custom search for you based on you specific needs.
