If you have a transportation dilemma, Mastick Senior Center’s Paratransit Coordinator Victoria Williams has the answer for you.

Ms. Williams presents a class every month at Mastick about the transportation options available to all Alamedans. Her next class is Tuesday, May 16 at 1:00 pm in Room D.  Pre-registration is required.  It is amazing that there are so many choices for us.  Here are few of them:

  1. The City of Alameda Paratransit Shuttle.  I thought this shuttle was only for seniors and people with disabilities.  But no, it is FREE to everyone.  The shuttle serves three areas or loops.

  1. The West Loop is on Tuesday for destinations in the West End of Alameda including the Farmer’s Market.

  2. The East Loop is on Wednesday for destinations in the East End including the Alameda Theatre; and finally

  3. The Central Loop on Thursday for destinations to the South Shore Shopping Center,

2.  Taxi Cab discounts vouchers.

3.  Clipper Cards with senior discounts.

4.  Transportation for wheel chairs.  That’s right, wheel chairs have their own way of catching up with you.

5.  Hospital Discharge Transportation Service.

6.   Travel Training; and

7.   Volunteer Driver Program which is now on hiatus in Alameda.

And there is more.  Who thought a class in transportation could be so interesting and informative.  If you are a member of Mastick Senior Center, take the class which is offered every month.  You won’t regret it.  Ms. Williams clearly enjoys her subject and helping all Alamedans answer their transportation questions.
