The 25th Annual NALC Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive 2017 in Venice Florida
It is that time of the year again. Are you ready to fill a bag and help feed the local needy families?
The America Letter Carriers are getting ready for this important event in the community. There are leaving flyers and bags in your mail box for you to spread the news, donate and share with others.
Last year in total we had 150 local volunteers of all ages in the Venice Florida area who helped pick up donated food from homes, unload 121 full carts (536lbs), 57 half load carts (268lbs) and 12 white tubs (53lbs) from their cars, minivans, suvs and trucks to the collection center, and separate food by cans, dry food and jars into boxes. Then distributed to 5 local food pantries: Community Action Ministry from Trinity Presbyterian Church, House of Truth, Center of Hope, Venice Church of the Nazarene Manna Ministry and Salvation Army.
What to donate?
Donate Non-perishable food with low sodium, low sugar. Items such as beans, canned fruit, canned meat(beef, chicken, tuna & etc.), cereal, canola and olive oil, macaroni and cheese, oatmeal, other whole grain, pasta, pasta source, peanut butter, rice, soup, spaghetti, vegetables.
Put your donation in the bag and leave it beside your mail box early in the morning on May 13, 2017. Your mailman/woman or the volunteer with car, truck or van that is assigned to your neighborhood will pick up the food and drop off at the collection station at the Venice Church of the Nazarene.
How can I help?
If you are interested to driving a route and pick up the food from home to home, please call Jan Kampenga at 941-468-2802 for more information.
There is other work that you can help, just stop by on May 13, 2017 to sign up and volunteer your time for an hour or more to unload the donation, push the cart, sort or pack the food into boxes , tape the boxes, count the boxes, move the boxes to a station for distribution.

Venice post office will provide bottled water; Salvation Army will have hot dogs, chips and drink.
