Oh what a joy it was last night at the Burholme Night Market in Philadelphia...
Barbeque...Cheesteaks...and Beer...OH MY!!!! ...along with other specialty food trucks and vendors.
Originally we were supposed to go elsewhere, however, that fell through, so we decided to go have dinner with our neighbors...or shall I say...several neighborhoods...
Up and down Rising Sun Ave. from Tyson to 5 Points at Cottman and Oxford the food trucks, beer and wine stands, the stage with the music rocking ( ROCK ON DUDE!!! ), many of our neighbors from Olney, Lawncrest, Lawndale, Burholme, Fox Chase, Castor Gardens, Mayfair, and other parts of Philadelphia and beyond....including a surprise visitor....one that has now become a Philly icon besides Rocky ( Sorry Sly ).
In our travels up and down the blocks, my wife would get a bit irritated because I would stop and talk to people; although I am not a huge fan of large crowds either. We ran into (not literally) people from Scouting, and also something very interesting happened. I had some people stop me who I had no idea who they were.
"Hey! You are that real estate guy!" "Hey Pete! Thanks for the information you send us." "I know you...you are that guy that drops off that information at our house..." Is it "NOW" business....no...but, it is called branding. And believe it or not, it really feels good to know people are starting to recognize.
It was a great opener to find out how "they" are enjoying the neighborhood, and, if they have any issues that may be neighborhood, or real estate related they may need help with...service first...
So, real estate is not all business when we get to know and associate with our neighbors, especially, when we become community focused.
