Does Your Hobby Give You True Satisfaction?

Real Estate Agent with Retired CA BRE# 01048160

I developed a new hobby this past Christmas Holiday. I received a custom bracelet as a gift and thought it was such a neat idea. I started to research them on Pinterest and decided I would like to give it try. The first effort was so successful that I decided this would be a great hobby. Some supplies later and I found a way to satisfy my artistic gene that thus far had only been satisfied with getting my properties staged and on the market.

One of my clients was having an elaborate Birthday Party and thought this would be a great 2nd gift . So I made this piece and ordered a smart looking gift box and here is how it turned out.

Custom Bracelet

The next day, I received a very pleasing Thank You note.

"Hi William
What a magnificent bracelet you made for me.  It looks fantastic both on and off my wrist.  Very stylish with the helmet and crowns.  It also displays nicely in the box that sits on my desk. "

In our industry, sometimes when we work hard and long hours, we gather a bit of stress along the way. I found my new hobby is totally satisfying and hope that whatever you do as your avocation gives you the same satisfaction.

William-That is beautiful. I am not surprised you are talented in this area as well. Enjoy your new hobby. Maybe you will post more often showcasing additional pieces you make. I enjoy woodworking myself among many other crafts. Have a great weekend.

That is an elegant looking bracelet, William!  My granddaughter works a lot with beads, and loves it!  I've done it a little in the past, and still have some of the pieces.  One thing that got me interested was an old Victorian Christmas orrnament that had been passed down in my family since about 1910.  It was a snowflake made out of beads.  I made many just like it, and gave them to my family.

William, where do I order a William Johnson original?? Sign me up! Seriously. I LOVE jewelry and what a great statement piece. Bracelets--you can never have too many.

One hobby you know that I enjoy already: photography. Of course, preachin' to the choir, here. Another one that I don't have much time for is gardening. I also am getting into birding. I've gotten lots of opportunities to photograph and look up different birds that I see here at the ranch and in my travels. Even put a Birder app on my iphone so that when I sight something I go to that app and it grabs my location, pulls up the local birds and I click on that one. I don't know yet how to put my photos onto my iphone from my camera and share them that way on that app, but I do have my Birds Pinterest board and share them readily there, as well as the occasional blogpost (don't want to bore my audience by becoming obsessed).

BTW, I think your new profile photo is smashing! Blue is a good color on you. Or whatever it is, it's all going nicely with the backdrop.

Hi William - Hobbies are the most fun when you have the talent to go with them. That's a beautiful bracelet, and you obviously have the talent.

How beautiful! My mom made jewelry as a hobby for several years and she said it was like therapy for her. She has moved on to quilting now.

You did a wonderful job and it's such a thoughtful gift!

If it doesn't give you satisfaction then who are you doing it for? That's what you have to ask yourself, right?

Redtirement opens creative doors! The bracelet was so stunning! Great guft!

My husband read a book called "Drawing on the right side of the brain" by Betty Edwards as he sought to wake up the creative side of his brain./ He went on to create stone sculptures and become quite proficient at water color painting - even in a juried show! Hope you are well! Lynn
