Sawgrass Lakes in Port St Lucie is a 450 acre community with five individual neighborhoods built around a 100 acre lake. Originally intended as a golf course, Sawgrass Lakes’ homesites never back to another property. With 8 miles of shoreline the water views offer tranquility and recreation as residents can use electric-powered boats on the water.
Homes are not cookie cutter like other developments as they were constructed by various local builders such as Ameritrend, Associated, GEM, Louran, Mercedes, Pace 2000, and Tropical. Start of construction was in 1998.
Crane Pointe on the northeast side has a gated entry off of Paar Drive. Over three quarters of the 107 homes have a lake view.
Panther Trace in the northwest quadrant has a gated entry off of Darwin Blvd. With 145 homes, Panther Trace is the largest of the five neighborhoods.
Hammock Cove in the southwest corner also has a gated entry off of Darwin Blvd. Hammock Cove is the only neighborhood in Sawgrass with a clubhouse and pool. This neighborhood is the second largest with 131 homes.
The Sanctuary on the southeast side has 85 homes.
The Estates is centered between Crane Point and Sanctuary off of Paar Drive on the east side and is the newest division of Sawgrass Lakes offering new construction on 75 homesites.
Home owners dues vary among the neighborhoods and range from $75 to $110 a month. The dues cover basic cable and the common areas. Residents are required to maintain their own lawns. Current prices range from $200,000 to $300,000.
RV and boat storage is offered on the north side of the community for an additional, minimal cost.
