Chihuly at the NY Botanical Gardens

Glass art and nature might not seem like a logical fit, but Dale Chihuly often exhibits at botanical gardens.   The forms and curves of his pieces complement their setting.

Glassblowing is a fascinating process, from design to execution.   The current exhibit at the New York Botanical Gaden includes a series of short videos showing the Seattle workshop where many of Chihuly's large pieces are made.   

The current exhibit at the NYBG runs until October -- you still have time to see it!

My wife and I have had the privilege of enjoying several different exhibits of Chihuly's work here in Washington.  It is colorful, dramatic and very, very beautiful.   I'm happy that you have this opportunity to see his art in person.  I can't imagine how they pack, ship and set up his work......... of course VERY CAREFULLY!       Nice photos!

I am so glad you posted this.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Chihuly!!!!  I saw some of his pieces at the Corning Museum of Glass, in New York.  If you get the chance, you have to go.

Dianne Goode OHMIGOSH I grew up in NYC and used to go to the Botanical Gardens all the time with my family. WOW, do I wish I could see Chihuly there! I'd never heard of him until I got here to the Puget Sound, and now he's one of my favorite artists. Thank you for alerting us to this - I'm going to tell my still-on-the-East Coast family about it.
