Will you be prepared to Fly in 2018?

I received some comments/questions about a previous post I shared, so I'm going to repost since it is taking effect now.  While in the line at TSA I noticed a sign about some drivers licences from some States that may not longer be accepted.  So I did a little research on it.  As Realtors we have lots of conventions to attend, as well as other business travelers.  So please take note.

Beginning in January 2018, driver’s licenses from some states may be rejected as a form of identification for boarding an aircraft.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA), has announced that starting next year it cannot accept some state driver’s licenses that don’t meet acceptable security standards.

Residents of nine states

Kentucky, Maine, Minnesota,

Missouri, Montana, Oklahoma,

Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Washington

may need to use a passport or some other government-approved identification unless their driver’s licenses are changed by next year. Other states have been granted extensions while they prepare to comply with the requirement. So it will be imperative for you to verify your State before you get to the airport.

Signs have been placed near checkpoints in some airports to notify passengers of the changing requirements.

TSA won't tell you you cant fly...  “You’ll just have to have another form of ID” and unless you are prior military with a photo ID, you options are gonna be limited unless you have a passport.  Remember it will need to be a photo ID so don't wait til the last minute... just saying....

Karen, can I assume prior military can use a DD-214 as the second form of I.D.?

Sorry a DD 214 is not an accepted form of ID as it does not have a photo.
