Showing Agent does't show up for showing appointment and doesn't cancel!!

What is the deal with agents that make an appointment to show a listing then they don't show it and they don't cancel the appointment so the home owners and the listing agent are aware the showing did not take place? I have thought it was a common courtesy to let the agent or the showing service know you need to CANCEL the appointment. It doesn't bother me as much when it is a vacant home but when it is an occupied home and the owners have had to prepare the home for the showing, it would be nice to at least be informed the showing would not happen as planned. Am I wrong to expect an agent to cancel a showing appointment?

Yes, indeed, Rick.  It IS too much to expect other agents to be professionals.  ;)  Alas, you just have to rise above the fray and set a good example.  I feel your pain!

It happens and it irritates.  Lack of professionalism.

YES Rick you are absolutely right....But I have in the past been guilty of this very inconsiderate thing. I had a client that was in a hurry to buy that day and was leaving the state that evening well I missed one of the homes I had scheduled a showing of and didn't even remember about until I got a spanking from the listing agent. I will try to never do it again I said, but really will it happen again, probably so. Not on purpose though.

I believe there is a lack of professionalism in the Real Estate industry.  If you cannot make it to your appointment, you need to be courteous and call ahead of time so you can try to reschedule.

It is certainly awful to have a seller get the house in "showcase" condition, find an alternate place to be, and leave the home only to have the realtor not show and not call. It really is bad business practice and unprofessional.

Catch me here!

I actually made an appointment for my Buyers to view a home and just before showing the home the Sellers cancelled....I had the people in front of the home...Their reason was because it was after dark and they did decided no showings after dark.  Needless to say their home is still on the market...It's hard to even sell homes in that price range.
