Matterport Pro2 3-D Camera Announcement

Real Estate Agent with SpringsHomes

This week Matterport announced the release of their second generation camera, the Pro2 3-D camera. Springs Homes was the first Colorado Springs real estate company to buy a Matterport 3-D camera. We have only had the camera for about a month, so we were surprised to get the e-mail offering the trade-in/upgrade for this new model. Normally I would have been annoyed that the upgrade came so fast after my initial purchase but when my sales rep called to tell me about the upgrade and that he had no idea it was coming,  I felt a little less out of the loop.

Yes, we did immediately sign up for the upgrade and here's why. The biggest reason is 4K, In other words, the ability to extract DSLR quality still photos from our scans is huge. With images up to 8092 px x 4552 px at 36 megapixels, we are hoping to be able to extract are still photos from our matterport scans. We are currently using a Sony Alpha 7 and doing 5 bracket exposures which we turn into full-blown HDR images in post-production. This takes a lot of time, so the thought is the camera would ultimately pay for itself if the new images are truly DSLR-quality.

We are a company that still does property flyers. So, we are interested to see what the printable 3D models will look like. I think this would be a pretty cool addition to a real estate flyer. The GPS ability is certainly interesting but it's one of those things I see is more important moving forward than it is right now. Not really sure how we're going to implement that but I'm sure we'll find out.

So yes we're in. here is a link to an article I finished just is matterport was announcing the release of the Pro2 3D camera. https://www.springshomes.com/blog/entry/3-d-real-estate-tours-with-matterport-camera

I saw Matterport at one of the seminars. The quality was not there, so we decided to pass. Hope they really improved it
