Zillow is STILL a thorn in our Side!

Have to be honest, I do not check Zillow or Trulia after I have listed a home, and now I think this is very important that we all do so!

 

 

Today received a call from a Seller who was looking on Zillow and not only found THEIR listing, but Zillow also had the listing prior to them buying it on the same listing!   They listed it as "Previous Listing", and think this is too confusing to the Public.   Now there are duplicate photos of every part of the home, and the exterior has even changed.

 

 

For a very long time, our MLS did not syndicate to Zillow due to them not signing a contract stating they would take down a listing once it goes under contract or is sold.   They have since signed, and have sent a message to our MLS to see if they are aware of this situation.

 

Is anyone else experiencing this?

It can be very confusing looking for listings online. My husband and I are currently looking and although I have access to our local mls, he does not. He keeps sending me listings he finds online and they are not at all current. Most are sold or pending or expired.

I have not seen them post previous listings when a new one comes on the market.  I would send them a complaint.

Sharon, that would be very frustrating, and annoying when you find a home, only to find it is already sold.

I was checking the syndication of one of my listings and found pictures from when the listing was a FSBO. But my real issue is Zillow's Zestimate that is about $70 K over asking. How do you think that plays out with your seller?

Hi Joan, Going to check here again but have not found a problem for current listing ...yet many times the map is wrong and they won't fix it. The home shows in one area while it is located many blocks away. What I see occurring are sellers advertising the property on their own while it is also listed. That is very confusing to the buyer.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® the zestimate on this very home is high also, and the Seller has asked, but have shown them the comparables an appraiser will use.

Zillow? Lots of shopper eyeballs, for sure. Zillow, for actual accuracy, maybe not so much.

A rental client wants all info to be removed from Z. After some soul searching I told him he was the one putting info on Z and it is up to him to get Z to remove it. He thinks his tract home is special and can lose value because it was rented out.
