This is the 6th (amazing how many MARTA Stations you CAN live by in Atlanta, eh?) in my multi-part series about Living Near a MARTA Train Station!
This series all started with the fire, and then collapse of I-85 Northbound, just North of the Brookwood split of I-85 and I-75! That was some 2 months ago, but the bridge was quickly rebuilt in just 6 weeks! (With the help of a $3M incentive, no doubt!) But there is still a worthy subject here....and that is the living options you can find near a MARTA Station.
With this post, we've reached the end of the Gold Line of MARTA and we have arrived in Doraville.
Doraville
Much like its neighbor to the West, Chamblee, Doraville is also an undiscovered secret for people looking for the next cool place to live. Now, there is not as much happening in Doraville as there is in Chamblee, but that will all be changing soon! The Yards at Assembly is about to begin construction on a new apartment building with some 250 brand new apartment homes. (Hey, there has not been new apartment construction in Doraville since....well....forever!) Assembly Doraville has been slow to take off due to infrastructure funding, but that is now moving forward. Also, just outside of I-285 on Buford Highway (across the street from the Buford Highway Farmer's Market) will be Nexus, on the site of a former K-Mart. Both of these places will have some exciting new housing opportunities in the future. (Key word is future...hence you want to keep a keen eye on the real estate market in Doraville!)
Where IS the Doraville MARTA Station?
The Doraville MARTA Station is located on New Peachtree Road and Park Avenue, just off of Buford Highway and just inside I-285.
What Kind of Homes are Around the Doraville MARTA Station?
Search Doraville Homes For Sale (This is a CITY-WIDE Search of Doraville)
This is the dramatic difference between all the other MARTA stations we have reviewed in this series. The area around the MARTA station has seen no transit-oriented development of any kind. Again, Assembly Doraville will give some of this opportunity, but that is at LEAST a few years away. There is new construction coming outside of I-285, off of Peachtree Industrial Blvd, called Carver Hills. Not walkable to the station, but at least it's new construction in the area!
What Doraville does offer is a nearby neighborhood of cool, 60's style ranch homes...ripe for remodeling and renovation! In fact, that has started to happen, and the prices have quickly made jumps from $130,000 to $279,000 of homes that have been renovated! Most of the Northwoods Neighborhood is walkable to the station, of a very quick drive.
There has been some in-fill new construction in the area, but most of the homes remain, and again, are perfect for renovations, and many have lots large enough for an addition to the home of a en suite or extra living space.
Always, keep in mind we can build a custom search for you that may not fall in the specific area of search shown above. Just CALL ME or E-MAIL me and we can talk about your next home!
