The 5 Best Questions to Build Trust & Rapport When Networking

By
Real Estate Agent with Future Home Realty

Today I attended Success Summit Seminar with Steve Black. I've attended many seminars in my real estate career and never had the erg to blog on one until now.

I first met Steve Black at a networking meeting where he did a presentation. I was impressed enough to sign up for his seminar and his credentials were impressive. But as the day to attend drew nearer, I was thinking it would be like many seminars; interesting, get a couple good ideas and that would be it. Decided to take my lap top with me and thought I could listen and do some work at the same time. Boy, was I wrong.

The summit went from 9 AM - 5 PM. He hit the ground running and it was high energy and jam packed with motivation, training, ideas and tips. So much so, I had a hard time keeping up with all the notes I wanted and did take in the 48 page work book he handed out to everyone.

He talked about goal setting and Launch Your Day - 59 Minutes to Terrific; what you need to do in the first 59 minutes of your day to set the tone for the rest of the day.

I'll share with you the five best questions to ask to build trust & rapport when networking:

1. How did you get started in your business?

2. What do you enjoy most about what you do?

3. What do you see as the upcoming trends in your industry?

4. What advise would you give to someone just getting in your business?

5. What is the funnest thing that ever happened to you in your business?

Can you see what these questions do? First, it's all about them. They are questions that most people could easily answer and respond to. It shows interest in what they do. And talking about something funny that happened, not only makes people laugh but relaxes people and they feel more comfortable with you.

And a Bonus Question:

What is a great referral for you?

What should I be looking for?

The premise, of course, is that you come from a position of giving (not getting). Give and it will come back to you 10 fold.

Steve went on to talk about researching prospects and referrals on line to find common ground. You can do that also with the people you currently have in your data base so you have something to talk about when you call, based on their posted activities.

Nearly half of the day was focused on using social media not only to advertise but to prospect and leave nuggets of credibility on a consistent basis.

So much more information and way too much to include in a blog post. Although Steve has a real estate background, his content was useful for anyone, regardless of what business you may have. There were plenty of Realtors there but also attorneys, trades people, all kinds of attendees representing various businesses. It was worth every penny and then some.

If you have an opportunity to attend his seminar, I highly recommend it. Below are some links for you to get more information.
