Today was the annual Carmel Chamber of Commerce luncheon held this year at the Inn at Spanish Bay in Pebble Beach. And once again I started out rather reluctantly to go to it because it takes a chunk out of my day, then was happy to have done so.
This is a get together of business people around the Monterey Peninsula and, in a very short time, you touch bases with a whole lot of people ranging from politicians (yep, they are everywhere) to retail store owners to heads of service industries. What is great is that some of the business owners bring some of their staff along, like Paul Miller, publisher of the weekly Pine Cone who brought his writers and advertising executives with him. Often these have only been names that we deal with electronically when we need to have something done. By the way, the Pine Cone is our local bible for news and real estate.
The lunch itself was fabulous, after all this is the 5-Star Inn at Spanish Bay; no rubber chicken for them. This chicken entree was outstanding! And the wine was donated by Scheid, an excellent Monterey County wine maker.
So, a day that started out with rain and kind of dreary, brightened up considerably including that the sun came out. As a treat, I decided to drive the beautiful 17 Mile Drive back to my office to Carmel-by-the-Sea, a drive that runs along the ocean with some of the most fantastic scenery on the planet. Here are a couple of photos that I just had to take to give you an example.
Have a great weekend, everyone.
