Hello Seattle...someone has me confused with TECH SUPPORT

By

Welcome clip artOK I'm not complaining, its really nice to be noticed but I'm just another blogger...really!

There isn't a day that goes by that I'm an not asked for some kind of blogging help.  Not so much about finding a voice but more about the "how do I do this" type thing.

Tonight I came home to this message:

Hi Kristal,

I hope you can help me. You see, I am new to AR and I am trying to figure out how to (I know this is going to sound stupid) get my blog that I have readied in Word to paste (in its entirety) to my AR blog. I keep losing the clipart. I know this isn't rocket science and I have been able to insert pictures just fine but I cannot for the life of me get this to go. It just shows text with no clip art. PLEEEAAASSSEEE Help.

Thank you. You came highly referred.

My response was:

Xyzww,

What you are trying to do will never work.  You can compost text in Word but you will need to add the clip art images separately in AR.  OR you can sign up for writely.com (it's free and offered by Google). There you can compose online just like you do in Word.  When done you cut and paste the whole thing into your blog on AR.

Hope this helps!

kk

Later (11:30 p.m.) this one comes in:

Hi Kristal,

A while back you mentioned that I should post one of my blogs on localism but I'm not sure how to do it, I did log in but still cannot find where to add the post. If you have a chance to help me out I would appreciate it =) I have so much to learn here!!

posting to LocalismDear Xyzzzzzz,

Posting to Localism is done in Active Rain.  Just compose your post, when done, check the appropriate boxes, starting with CONSUMERS. (It's a little hard to see, but once you check off this box the rest of the boxes (circles actually) will appear.  You don't have to check these if they are not relevant.  BUT it is a good idea to catagorize your blog to an area if it is specific to that area.  (see my handy illustration.)

You must go to step two toi finish the job...

At the bottom of the page you will need to choose your state, it looks like this: Go as deep in choices as your post is relevant.  Easy yes?

Learning new things is challenging, I always admire folks who refuse to be satisfied with status quo and continue to expand their horizons by learning something new.  I welcome the opportunity to share what I have learned, sharing is fun.  It even gets better when the person you have taught starts teaching others.

Pass it on.

P.S. I have a list of "how to do this and that" on my Active Rain Profile.  If you are questioning how to do something, check it out.  Maybe it was discussed before...

kk

P.S. Active Rain has yet to put me on the payroll.  I am however logging my hours and plan to redeem them for more points, shoes and perhaps a cup of Chai Tea from Starbucks (of course).

Fun post, as usual Kristal.  That is odd that someone would email you for "tech support" though!  I think its nice that you take the time to put screenshots in your posts.  I am WAY too lazy for that.

lol - This is hilarious. I've been doing some moderation in the active rain newbies group lately. I have been trying to answer a bunch of unanswered questions. I am feeling a little like tech support too, but I am bringing it on myself. Its not coming to me. From all the blogs I've seen you write, I'm thinking the guys at AR should send you a gift certificate for your Chai Latte?
