Yesterday we took a hike to Bridal Veil Falls just west of Clark, Wyoming in the Clarks Fork Canyon. It's about a 45-minute drive from Cody and well worth the trip.
The hike was organized by "Got Your Six Outdoors Club". This is a group of veterans and civilians partnering together to raise awareness of PTSD and encourage veterans to participate in outdoor activities and build relationships.
I forced my children to participate, which involved some whining and complaining by one of them but that died down once we got moving. By the end of the hike he was talking about how much fun it was. Especially after he downed a few hotdogs and hamburgers. This kid can eat!
We had heavier-than-usual snowfall this year and it's starting to melt. I've never seen the river this high! We made sure to keep the kids away from it, which wasn't hard to do because the trail is about 100 yards away from the river banks. We still had to cross the creek in a few difficult spots.
It was about 2.5 miles to Bridal Veil Falls and well worth the effort. Because of the terrain, only about 10% of the hikers actually went to the bottom. Those of us that did were in and out quickly because the temperatures were very low!
It was a great group of people and an amazing day for a hike. Whether you are a local or a visitor, I highly recommend making the effort to visit Bridal Veil Falls.
