If you were hiring a portrait painter, you would want an artist that specializes in portraits, not architectural renderings, right?

If you have a chronic sore throat, you would want to see a doctor that specializes in ear, nose, and throat issues, not a doctor that specializes in foot disorders.

If you’re looking to redo your kitchen, you’re not going to hire a carpet installation expert to manage the job.

In this same way, you’re not going to want to hire just any photographer to take pictures of your real estate listing. You want a photographer that has experience in real estate photography.

There’s a recent article in the Boston Globe, written by Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer, Stan Grossfeld, one of the best photojournalists in the world. The piece is titled “Advice on taking knockout real estate photos from a Pulitzer-winning photographer.”

The most notable quote from this article states, “Because, in America, everyone who has a cellphone thinks they are a professional photographer.

They are not.”

The most interesting thing about this article is that Stan Grossfeld, this prize-winning photographer, included samples of real estate photos that he had taken for the article. Here we have a photojournalist that knows how a camera works, knows how to take pictures that move people, yet – his real estate photos? Not good at all. The angles are bad; the lighting is poor, they’re just not good.

Stan Grossfeld is a brilliant photojournalist, one who takes pictures that evoke a wide range of emotions. Not many people can capture what he can in a photographic. If you’re looking to do a photo essay or something that tells a story that the public needs to hear he’s your man.

But if you’re looking for someone to take photographs of your new real estate listing, you need to find the expert in THAT field. Not a wedding photographer or a pet photographer. A real estate photographer.

Real estate photography is not easy. It requires many hours of work to get the lighting and composition just right. No one does it well in the beginning. This is why it’s critical that you hire a photographer that is not only a specialist in real estate photography but also one that has the most experience in this field.

That's great William! I also use only Professional bodies and glass, but it's not the equipment used more than the knowledge and experience of how to use it.
